Aria! Opera for Everyone winter concert coming up

I have been attending the Aria! Opera for Everyone concerts at the Roodepoort Theatre since their inception.  That’s four years now.  On 20 June 2014, they will again be presenting a gala concert.

For this concert Louw will be joined by the Pretoria-based company Sempre Opera, accompanied by the Sempre Opera Instrumental Ensemble conducted by Schalk J. van der Merwe, a BMus student at the University of Pretoria.  A total of eight soloists and an opera chorus will perform works that include the Habanera from Carmen, Nessun Dorma from Turandot, Casta Diva from Norma and La donna è mobile from Rigoletto, to mention but a few.

Patrons can now also enjoy a delicious meal at the new Stages Restaurant at the Roodepoort Theatre before the show.  For enquiries or dinner reservations call Roel (general manager) on 079 091 1270.  I have eaten here in the past.  The feta cheese in the salad was frozen, but other than that, the salad was ok.  Slow service though.  There was no cake or dessert to go with the tea we had there after the concert.  Perhaps the Stages Restaurant could remedy that?
