Cru is “a vineyard or group of vineyards, especially one of recognized quality”. It is a French wine term which is traditionally translated as “growth”, as it was originally the past participle of the verb “croitre”.
I’m going to use the term to head up my wine of the day series.
Today’s wine references the vineyard in connection with which I first heard the term “grand cru” – Spier.
The Spier Chenin Blanc is a crisp, fruity white wine.
Pair it with simple fried hake and chips for a classic foodie experience.
