Joburg Diary for January 2017

A brief overview of some of the things happening in Johannesburg, the City of Gold in January 2017, mainly taken from my personal diary, of course.  🙂

2017.01.01  Celebrating the New Year with the LGBTI community in Joburg

The first of many LGBTI social events @The_Club_JHB in Pineslopes, Fourways This is a New Year Eve function which will go on until late. email VIP@SAEVENTS.BIZ for further information.

2017.01.01 – 2017.01.08  Garden of Lights, Emperors Palace.  Still on for one last week.  If you missed this earlier in the season, it is still a fabulous event.  R25 entrance – all proceeds donated to charity.

2017.01.01  Barnyard at Emperors Palace – New Year Party at R395.00 and R100 for tickets in January (and 2 for the price of one some Tuesdays).

2017.01.10 – 2017.01.29  The Market Theatre.  The House of Truth

2017.01.11  Government Schools Open for the new school year.  They stay open until 31 March 2017, so childless people should take their holidays in this time if they want to take advantage of the off season.

2017.01.20  Split (2016), Directed by M Knight Shyamalen, Horror/Thriller.  Good reviews from USA.   Movie opens at all major cinemas.

2017.01.20  Allied (2016), directed by Robert Zemeckis.  War/Romance.  Generally favourable reviews from overseas.

2017.01.27 (Sunday) Orchestra from Scratch as part of the Johannesburg International Mozart Festival Rehearsal 11.00 Performance 15.00 at the Scott Gym.  An orchestral experience for any and all musicians (minimum Grade 3 level). If you would like to participate in this unique experience, contact us at the JIMF Offices. The performance  promises to be fun for the whole family. Attendance for the audience is free!  Programme includes music by John Philip Sousa, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Paul McCartney, with family favourites such as St Louis Blues, and Washington Post.
