Florence Foster Jenkins

Florence Foster Jenkins is a 2016 biographical drama.

Written by Nicholas Martin and directed by Stephen Frears, the movie stars Meryl Streep as Florence and Hugh Grant as her husband, St. Clair Bayfield, together with Simon Helberg as Cosme McMoon.

Florence Foster Jenkins (1868-1944) was a wealthy New York socialite and music lover.  She always wanted to sing, and so she did, despite a lack of talent.  This is her story.

The film is charming – a mixture between tragedy and comedy, leaving one feeling a little sad and a little amused.  Meryl Steep is wonderful and one can’t help but like her character.

I give this movie 9/10.  I loved it.
