The choices of who to see at the Joy of Jazz festival are always difficult. A friend and I sit together with the programme and “perve” at what we would like to see. We both stopped at the scheduling for Friday 16 September 2016 on the Dinaledi Stage.
Paul van Kessel is a Dutch singer and songwriter with an international following will be pairing up with US born vocalist Deborah J Carter for New York Round Midnight with their eleven piece ensemble drawn from the cream of the Dutch jazz scene.
New York Round Midnight is one of the biggest hit shows on the international jazz scene. It takes the audience back to the heyday of Broadway jazz with big hits such as My Funny Valentine to I Love You Porgy.

Deborah Carter and Paul van Kessel can be heard on the Dinaledi Stage on the 16th September at 20:00. I am so looking forward to seeing this one.
