The 969 Festival for 2016 starts today!

Today’s shows are Just Antigone at 13:15 at the Amphitheatre, Sweetie Darling at 19:15 Downstairs, and Amsterdam at 20:30 in the Amphitheatre.   For show schedules for the rest of the Festival, Google “969 Festival programme”.  These shows all did well at the National Arts Festival. The 969 Festival is curated by Gita Pather.

Just Antigone is an ensemble work adapted from the classical text but with contemporary slang and colloquialisms.  Set in Thebes it deals with teenage rebellion in a physically challenging manner.

Sweetie Darling is a romantic comedy presented by The Playhouse Company and it stars Bongani Mbatha directed by Clinton Marius.

Amsterdam is about a woman who immigrates to Amsterdam after a holiday romance. It is based on a true story.
