Met’s Magic Flute Movie

The Magic Flute (The Met: Live in HD) by Mozart, shortened and in English, is currently showing at Cinema Nouveau.  Starring Nathan Gunn as Papageno (my favourite character from this opera) and Ying Huang as Pamina, Matthew Polenzani as Tamino and Rene Pape as Sarastro.  Erika Miklosa is the Queen of the Night. The opera was performed under the baton of James Levine.

Directed by Julie Taymor, this is a suitable movie to introduce older children to opera (two hour sit).  It is a wonderful fairy tale and the staging is bold, bright and visually appealing.
