How wonderful it is to have books for children that are relevant to South Africans now. It seems that just about everything we had as children actually related to another culture. Things are much better today.
A set of twin girls aged 6 is double trouble and I have here Karatekas #1 Friends & Betrayal, a new South African series by Anzil Kulsen illustrated by Alinde Lombaard, together with Lulu Bell and the Birthday Unicorn by Belinda Murrell, illustrated by Serena Geddes, an Australian series which might have to be read to them at the moment because the heroine is actually eight, although her younger sister is having the birthday party and she is only six.
Harper Lee’s novel, Go Set a Watchman, is a sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird, although it was apparently written first. I read it in one sitting. It is a Christmas gift for my sister who loves To Kill a Mockingbird.
