Fans of Charly’s Cake Angels will be thrilled to know that it is getting a second 13 week season on SABC3 at 21:00 from 18 June 2015. Filmed inside the bakery in Cape Town’s District 6 and produced by Cooked in Africa Films. Season One has been shown in 100 territories in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Nick Thorogood, Senior Vice President Content & Marketing, Scripps EMEA says “Charly’s Cake Angels began as a showcase of fresh, new talent in a genre that is enjoying unprecedented growth worldwide, and has grown to become a household name synonymous with exotic cakes and a strong sense of family, with beautiful Cape Town providing the perfect back drop.”
Founded 25 years ago by Charly and Jacqui Biess, the new series about a family bakery opens with the tragic news of Charly’s death from cancer in May 2012, with Jacqui and daughters Alex, Dani and Roch having to deal with their loss while struggling to meet the increasing demands from new customers and eager fans.
Charly’s Cake Angels go about changing the world, one cupcake (random act of kindness) at a time, as they reach out to the communities around them.
