I am not a sports fan generally, and the only thing that gets me to watch it is patriotism. I managed the South African games of the last World Cup. This one leaves me cold, but most people enjoy “the beautiful game”. SABC 1 has a programme which focuses largely on the World Cup. I share some of the forthcoming attractions with my football loving readers.
The live games will be produced from an SABC studio driven by an anchor presenter and two analysts (consisting of ex-soccer coaches and soccer players). The soccer matches will be anchored by Tshepo Mabona, Thomas Mlambo and Lebo Motsoeli. The live broadcasts will consist of a build-up, half time and wrap -up times in studio.
Good Morning Brazil: 48 min (daily) (from 12 June @ 06h00) is a live show which will be presented by Andile Ncube, Xoli Zondo and Lerato Kganyago. This lifestyle slot will include an extended FIFA International Broadcast Feed and updates on social media as well as competitions. The programme will be ended off with music with a samba and African feel.
Kasi to Favellas: 24min (from 23 June @ 20h30) This fast paced studio magazine show presented by Pearl Modiadie and Maps Maponyane will look at both facts on- and off field about the countries that will be going head-to-head in an attempt of winning the match on the evening.
Let’s talk Brazil (from 27 June @ 21h30) is sport talk show, being presented by Thomas Mlambo and Minnie Dlamini which will be putting defining moments in the tournament in the forefront.
