Afrikaans Arts and Culture Festivals abound. The latest of these takes place on a cruise ship, with the first of these the RSG/LEFRA Oppiwater Kunstefees taking place from 17 March to 22 March 2014 on the new Starlight Cruise ship, the MSC Opera. It will be visiting Maputo and the Portuguese Islands.
The entire festival takes place on board ship. Just think, a festival without parking problems. I think it is a brilliant concept for the luxury arts and culture market.
Featured artists include Laurika Rauch, Sandra Prinsloo, Koos Kombuis, several new Afrikaans comedies and two new Liewe Heksie productions for the little ones and their parents to enjoy. There will also be tribute shows with Alwyn Oberholster doing Beautiful Noise (Neil Diamond) and Koos van der Merwe doing Leonard Cohen in Afrikaans. RSG presenters, Amore Bekker, Martelize Brink and Derrich Gardner will also be present and there will be party times to get to know them.
I just wish I were joining this cruise. It sounds like a blast!
