Types of wines get their names from …

An interesting wine fact found on the Soweto Wine Festival Facebook page (yes, go and like it … the Festival takes place in Soweto over the first weekend of September and it is one of the most user friendly wine festivals for non wine fundis in the city).

Oh! Before I got sidetracked by the Soweto Wine Festival, I was sharing a fact: European wines are named after their geographic locations (for example Champagne and Bordeaux) while non-European wines (for example Pinot Noir and Merlot) are named after different grape varieties.
